20. The city of Ayodhya is one of the oldest cities in India.  Ayodhya is also called the birthplace of Sri Rama, it is created by the city gods, and it is located on the banks of the river Ayodhya Saryu.


19. Ayodhya is a district and its headquarters is Ayodhya and there are 1000 villages in Ayodhya.  The main language in Ayodhya is Awadhi and the total population of this city is 25 lakh and there are five elected constituencies.


18. Ayodhya is also known as Saket.  The ancient name of Ayodhya is said to be Saket.  It was the center of the backdrop of the famous epic Ramayana, with the birth of Lord Rama and the reign of King Dasharatha.


17. According to some famous poems, it was a populous country at that time.  Ayodhya was the capital of Kosala state.  Kings like Ikshvaku, Prithu, Mandhata, Harishchandra, Sagar Bhagirath, Raghu, Dilip, Dasaratha and Rama ruled in this capital of Kosala country.

In the Bodh period around the sixth - fifth century BCE, Shravasti became the major city of the state.  In the 11th and 12th centuries, the Kannauj empire was born in Ayodhya, which was called Awadh, later the city was included in the Delhi Sultanate, the State of Jonpur and the Mughal Empire in the 15th century.  The city of Ayodhya, located on the eastern bank of the Saryu River, is replete with relics of ancient times.


15. Ayodhya is located on the banks of river Ghaghra or Saryu just before Faizabad in North Nagar.  It was founded by the second Nawab Khan of Awadh about two and a half centuries ago.  It is only seven kilometers from Ayodhya.


14. Darshan Singh built the long ghats on the Saryu river in the 19th century.  The banks of the river are full of beautiful temples, chakrahari and secret green temples dedicated to Sita Ram and Narasimha which enhance the beauty of this place.


13. According to the Ramayana, Vevaravat, son of Vivashavan (Surya), was founded by Manu Maharaj.  Later Suryavanshi (Surya) became the capital of the dynasty.  The most important king in this and the famous king was Rama.


12. The reference to Ayodhya is also rooted in the Atharvaveda and moreover, according to Jainism, five Tirthankaras were born in Ayodhya.  Ayodhya or Avadhpuri being the birthplace of Lord Rama, it is also considered as the main pilgrimage place for Mokshadayini and Hindus.


11. Various festivals and celebrations are Deepotsav Ayodhya, Ram Navami Mela, Shravan Jhula Mela, Ram Leela, Parikramaas, Anantagrahi Parikrama, Panchakosi Parikrama, Vaturdashkoshi Parikrama, etc.  And Dussehra is celebrated here with great pomp.


10. Ayodhya has many places to visit and various scenic spots. Ramkoti, Hanuman Garhi, Tulsi Memorial Building, Shree Nageshwarnath Temple, Treta Ke Thakur, Kanak Bhavan, Ayodhya Jain Temple, Mani Parvat, Choti Devkali Temple, Ram Ki Paidi, Korean Park  , Rani Ho, Saryu River, Ram Katha Museum, Surajkund etc. are famous.

9. You will be surprised to know that the name of Ayodhya was settled by King Manu and he named this kingdom Ayodhya which means there was never any war. According to old beliefs, there used to be the kingdom of Suryavanshi and Raghuvanshi clan. 


8. Pandit Prajnarayan Chakarprastha, a great Urdu poet and lawyer by profession, who translated Ramayana into Urdu for the first time, was also born in Faizabad.


7.Ramkot, located in the western Shire of the city, is the main place of Ayodhya and devotees from India and abroad continue to come and it is the biggest place for worship in Ayodhya.


6.  There is a legend behind the creation of Hanuman garhi that Nawab Mansoor Ali Khan was the king of Awadh. Once his son fell ill, who was his only son, he was tearing his breath, then the Nawab bowed before Hanuman.  Son's breath started running.  He thanked Hanuman and built his temple.  Not only this, his tax was also waived forever and 52 bighas of land for the tamarind forest.


5. When Ramji came back to Ayodhya after the victory of Lanka, Hanuman ji also brought some goods or gifts from Lanka which are still kept in the Hanuman Garhi which are removed only on special occasions.


4. It is said that once Ram ji's son Kush was bathing in the Saryu river and he was approached by a Nag Kanya who was a Shiva devotee and fell in love with Kush when Kush built the Nageshwarnath temple.


3. The only Raghu temple in the entire Ayodhya city is such that there is only an idol of Lord Rama and you will be surprised to know that this temple has only Rama ji and Sita ji and no one else.


2. Let me tell you that even today in Ayodhya, where the palace of Shri Rama used to be, some remains of it are still kept and the pillar and other things of the palace are also kept.  Which will be placed in the Ram temple after it is built.
