4. Brihadeeswara temple

This temple is in Tamil Nadu.  And it is very old.  About 1000 years ago.  And this temple is of Lord Shiva.  And its height is 66 meters.  This is a very unique temple because no cement was used to build this temple.  And it was made by placing stone on top of it.  This is a very unique technique.  More surprising is that 80000 kg stone is placed above this temple.  This stone is equivalent to 15 elephants.  And it is a lone stone.  Now the thing to think about is how this stone would have been placed on top.  If there was no cranes many years ago, how would the stone have been laid?  And this stone was placed so that while reciting the mantra, the sound could not go out and no vibration could occur.  In today's time, it is not a joke to lay a stone of 80000 kg at 66 meters.
